Finding my voice

this-is-lukeSince the inception of this new blog, I have written four posts, just about one a week. But I have to be honest with you; it has been difficult for me to get into a groove. I really enjoy writing and seem to have plenty to say but as of recently, I am at a loss for words. The difficulty for me is seeing the many amazing blogs already out there; so many experts on every subject imaginable. Many say that most blogging subjects are oversaturated and that we don’t need any more. But, I still feel compelled to tell my story; to share my thoughts and feelings through the lens of the personal experiences I have gone through.

I think many new bloggers or even writers may share this same struggle to find the correct words to say. Lets be honest, we all just need to find more confidence to be ourselves.

A friend recently encouraged me regarding being true to my story. He shared with me a story at the very beginning of the book of Luke in the Bible. The author starts the book by saying, “look I know that many other guys have already wrote about the life of Jesus and all the things that they saw him do, but it still seems good to me to tell my story.”

The problem with finding your voice in blogging and even in life is that someone like you is not already out there. The good news is that this is also the reason why you need to be true to yourself. No one has gone through the same experiences as you. No one else had cried your tears or been in your head while seeing the things that you have saw. So I encourage you to be yourself. Not just in your writing but in your living. Your friends and family need you just the way you are.

I have learned so much from many bloggers and writers who have taken the time to share their stories. We need to step outside our box and be bold to share our thoughts and experiences with others. I hope to get to know you and pray that through our writing we can learn from each other.

    Wow!
    Powerful stuff here Luke.
I’m really liking it a lot and know you are on the right path.

I’ve wanted to blog for a long time. I really do love to write but I am married to Manny (I mean seriously, have you read his 80 page whatever he calls it) and then there’s Danny and Steph…the list could go on and on of the talented writers I know. You really inspired me to just be me even if it’s not as eloquent, well-said, entertaining as others. In the end, they should be thankful to me for making them look good, right?

Love your bloggin! (Can’t wait to see Amy’s)
